Neighbors
So the sign above was gifted to me from my neighbor in the "green house". Today was the last day in their house, as they have bought a beautiful historic home up north. The thing about my relationship with these particular neighbors is that we didn't hang out often, but we knew and understood that we had each other's backs. There was a sense of security just knowing they were there. We moved to the house we are currently in almost 8 years ago. Our kids were a lot younger, and a lot has changed over those almost 8 years. I have lost three dogs since I have lived here, and they were there for us with each one of them. Their daughter was going into kindergarten when we met, and now she is about to finish seventh grade. I knew when I met this young lady, she was AMAZING!. Talk about BOLDNESS, she had it! She would come over and just chat with me about anything. She LOVED my dogs and was so sweet with them. I remember one day she came over and we were sitting out back. She asked if she could brush them. They were both labs and were shedding terribly. She asked if she could have a plastic bag so she could put the hair in. She wanted to make a purse or sweater with the fur. Of course, I texted her mom and warned her of her brilliant plan. I thought she would kill me.. HAHA!! Below are two posters she made for me, just because. She was maybe 6 or 7 at the time. Ash - I still have them!
I have watched this young lady grow and mature. We have talked about so much over the years. I lovingly call her my youngest best friend because she has become very important to me. I am so proud of her BOLDNESS and putting herself out there by trying new sports she has never played. She has a HUGE heart, and I will miss seeing my BFF out in the yard, swinging a bat or just chatting about the day.
We have had some crazy mess go down on Autumn Moon Lane. Devon called me when we first moved in and told me that she had to put out a fire in my trash can. Luckily, it was at the end of the road and not up against my house. We had teak wood oil in the trash can, and it ignited. Crazy! I have seen fire trucks at her house, and she has been to my house at 4:30 in the morning to help me apprehend criminals who I thought were in my basement. I had a knife, and she grabbed a soundbar. It was a false alarm. Somehow, the surround sound came on in the basement. Thank God it wasn't real people because she was about to do some damage with the soundbar. The weird thing is that I had a police officer living on the other side of me, and yet I called Devon! I have gone into her house to yell from the front door to her son, are you awake? It's Ms. Jackie, your mom asked if I would come over to be sure you are awake. You have work today. We just did stuff... Again, it was a comfort thing just knowing they were there.
So that sign she bought me is THE BEST! You never know what will be coming out of my porch in the way of music. They are great music lovers too, so they appreciated my eclectic taste in music. What was written on the back of that sign means more to me than Devon will ever know. I will cherish it! Thank you.
Hoerner's thank you for a great ride! Thank you for turning the other way when I was outside in my jammies trying to get a dog inside. Thank you for understanding that I find great peace in being home, and you always respected my alone time. Thank you for sharing the good and bad times with us. I will miss seeing you out and about. I can't wait to come up and see your new beautiful home. I know this has been a dream that has come true for you, and for that, I am so happy for you. Way to Be BOLD and go after it.
